1.5 years in the startup world, full time for just over a year, after a 10-year career with big companies. My company, dmi.io, is creating the marketplace for business data - think "ebay for data."

I started in 2003 as an integration & test engineer at Lockheed Martin on the Airborne Laser program (look it up - 10 years later, still the coolest technology I've ever seen firsthand) in Silicon Valley for a couple years, then moved to Virginia and worked as a software engineer and systems engineer on submarine sonar & weapon control systems for a couple more years before moving into program management for another 4 years.

After nearly 8 years there and making it through a couple rounds of layoffs, I decided it was a good time to leave on my own terms and try other industries, and for personal reasons I needed to move to NYC, so I took a position as a Sr. Project Manager at a web apps company on Long Island called Dealertrack Technologies, and then a few months later transitioned again to Bridgewater Associates, a huge hedge fund in Westport, CT, running data & metrics for one of their operational departments. That was a really challenging experience but the people there are phenomenal, and that's how I met my co-founder and one of our key team members. After I decided to leave and start my own company, I also decided I wanted to move back home to Colorado, so here I am.

Things you can talk to me about: data, startup life, system & information engineering, software engineering, aerospace & defense (it's really a fascinating industry), and lots of other stuff...
